Oscar Knoester off to Tokyo
Oscar Knoester has been given the great honour of refereeing at the upcoming world championships in Tokyo Japan. Oscar started judo in 1966. Since the age of 10 he was in the Transvaal provincial team until he retired from competitive judo. He won the SA.s on numerous occasions and represented SA. He also obtained colours for the military and combined forces.
Oscar started coaching at the age of 14 and has produced many provincial and national champions over the years that have gone on to represent our country. He started refereeing at the age of 12. "This helped me a tremendously with my judo as a competitor. It was inevitable that I started reffing since my father was the Director of Referees. Sensei Joe was my coach, mentor and father who taught me the sport we all love. He was one of the founder members of judo in South Africa. His other son Carlo has achieved the highest honour in refreeing in judo of being selected as one of the members of the IJF referees commission and olympic referee."
I would like to thank JSA for their continued support and faith in me.
